FUTURE ORIGINS
Backwoods Gallery
Melbourne, Australia
May 2014
An exhibition featuring a series of acrylic and ink paintings on wood, as well as a large wall installation, a limited edition print and experiments with video animation and sculptural works.
'Future Origins' is a further progression of the artist's current body of work depicting a potential futuristic world of hope and survival, connecting with the idea of new lifeforms, their possible origins and growth patterns.
Through an ongoing and developing exploration of style, colour, repetition, symmetry, design, measurement and precision, the Sydney based artist's works feature vibrant colours and geometry primarily inspired by nature. The instantly recognisable and loveable deities in his works have spawned from the elements of the earth, as if nature has come to life in a way we could never have imagined.
Harnessing the advantages, disadvantages, limitations and expectations of various mediums, Beastman has fused them together in a cohesive and confident way, offering an insight into how his distinct visual language can be produced and presented using a range of different formats and mediums.
